Stepping Out

This project started in October 2004. It is funded by SUPPORTING PEOPLE, a government initiative.

This project focuses on the customers individual needs from their homes. It can be accessed by statutory, voluntary agencies or from the customer themselves.

It provides an individual approach to the customers needs allowing them to prioritise their own needs and sign up to actively take part in working towards solving their problems. The customer is asked to pick a maximum of three objectives to work towards with their Empowerment Worker. It helps to build up confidence, remove social isolation and empowers people to make difference to the quality of their lives.

Some of the support that STEPPING OUT has been provided includes helping customers to access GP’s and dentists, gaining grants to decorate their homes and practical support to enable them to do this, help with budgeting and gaining skills for life.

STEPPING OUT wants the project to be fun and so it is really nice when customers try out new activities in their community and fulfil lifetime ambitions.
